Kesar Mango

Kesar Mango

Origin: Kesar mango originated in the Gir region of Gujarat, India. It is primarily grown in the districts of Junagadh, Amreli, and Gir Somnath in Gujarat. The mango gets its name from its saffron-like color, as "Kesar" translates to saffron in Gujarati.

Appearance: Kesar mangoes are small to medium-sized, with an oval to round shape. When ripe, they have a distinctive golden-yellow skin with a reddish blush on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is juicy and fiberless, with a bright orange-yellow color.

Flavor and Aroma: Kesar mangoes are prized for their sweet and tangy flavor, which is often described as a perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. They have a rich, aromatic fragrance with floral and fruity notes, reminiscent of saffron.

Season: Kesar mangoes typically have a shorter season compared to some other mango varieties, with peak availability from April to June. The exact timing can vary depending on weather conditions and agricultural practices.

Export: Like Alphonso mangoes, Kesar mangoes are in high demand both domestically and internationally. They are exported to countries around the world, including the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. However, similar to Alphonso mangoes, exporting Kesar mangoes can be challenging due to strict regulations and the need for proper handling to maintain freshness.
